GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (January 29, 2015) – Senior Paul Becklens (Boston, Mass.) fell one rebound short of a true-point guard double-double as he finished his night with 11 assists and nine rebounds in the Franklin Pierce University Men's Basketball team defeated Adelphi by a final score of 75-62.
With the win, the Ravens improve to 12-7 (7-5 Northeast-10) while Adelphi falls to 4-15 (1-12 Northeast-10).
The Ravens proved to be the better team on the floor for a majority of the night, shooting exactly 50 percent from the floor, while Adelphi only managed to shoot 41 percent. However, Franklin Pierce made their night from behind the three-point line shooting just under 41 percent compared to Adelphi's 25 percent.
Senior Ryen Vilmont (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Ravens with 21 points, while sophomore Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) followed right behind with 15 points of his own. Tyler Iacuone (Mahopac, N.Y.) finished as the only other Raven in double-figures with 14 points. Gittens and Vilmont each backed Becklens' nine rebounds with six rebounds apiece.
For Adelphi, Anthony Libroia sank a team-high 16 points on 7-13 shooting, while Duane Morgan put in 12 points. However, the Panthers were paced by double-double from Ryan DeNicola who snatched 13 rebounds and pumped in 10 points.
The Ravens return to the hardwood this Saturday, January 31 when they take on the LeMoyne Dolphins at 3:30 p.m. at the Fieldhouse in Rindge.
