CANTERBURY, N.H. (September 24, 2019) The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team had a strong final round to finish fifth place out of seventeen teams at the Penmen Fall Invitational Tuesday afternoon hosted by the Canterbury Hills Country Club.

The Ravens were in second place behind the eventual tournament champions, Laval University after shooting at 290 (+2) in their first-round but slipped to seventh place shooting a 305 (+17) in their second run through the course. However, the crimson and grey finished off the tournament shooting a solid 294 (+6), the third-lowest score of the final round to rise to a fifth place with a three day total of 889 (+25).

Franklin Pierce finished fourth among Northeast-10 Conference schools just one stroke behind Assumption College and tournament hosts Southern New Hampshire University who each shot at 888 (+24) to deadlock for third place. Le Moyne College paced the conference with a second-place finish while shooting 878 (+14).

Junior Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) and senior Nate Patterson (Conway, Mass.) were the Ravens top finishers as each turned in a total score of 221 (+5) to tie for 12th place in the tournament. Plis shot a team-low 69 (-3) in the first round.

Senior Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) turned in the best final round of any Raven and tied for the third-best final round score overall at 71 (-1). Donohue's card matched a new personal-career low which allowed him to rise up the leaderboard and tie teammate Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) at 224 (+8). Senior Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) lowered his score each day and finished with a three-round total of 233 (+17).

Franklin Pierce will have next weekend off as they prepare for the Northeast-10 Men's Golf Championship in Endicott, N.Y. beginning on Sunday, October 6th.
