  • Men’s Ice Hockey Sweeps Weekly NE10 Awards

    MANSFIELD, Mass. (December 4, 2019) – Fresh off the first-ever tournament title in program history, it was a clean sweep of the Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team, for the week ending on Dec. 1, as announced on Monday afternoon by the NE10 office. Sophomore forward Ryan Gorbett (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) has been named NE10 Player of the Week, junior goaltender Ian Wallace (West Islip, N.Y.) was selected as NE10 Goaltender of the Week, and freshman forward Conor Foley (Nahant, Mass.) earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Claims Hoar Invitational Title with 4-1 Win over Wilkes

    WORCESTER, Mass. (December 1, 2019) – As the snow began falling outside, Saturday afternoon became a day of historic proportions for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team inside the Worcester Ice Center. The Ravens were able to grind out a 4-1 win over Wilkes in the title game of the Steve Hoar Memorial Invitational, hosted by Becker, to claim the program’s first-ever tournament title. Further, it was the team’s sixth consecutive win, which established a new program record, and the squad extended its program-record unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1).
  • Fast Start Leads Men’s Ice Hockey Past Becker, 7-2, in Hoar Invitational Opener

    WORCESTER, Mass. (November 30, 2019) – With the first major snowstorm of the season bearing down on the region, it was a blizzard of goals in the first period for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team in the Worcester Ice Center on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore forward Ryan Gorbett (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) dished out four assists and tallied five points -- both of which matched program single-game records -- and sophomore forward Anthony Nikolopoulos (Burlington, Mass.) scored twice as the Ravens rolled to a 7-2, non-conference win at Becker. The game was the first contest of the annual Steve Hoar Memorial Invitational, held in honor of the former Becker head coach.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey’s Jacobs Named NE10 Player of the Week

(November 26, 2019) – Sophomore defenseman Stephen Jacobs (Hingham, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon by the NE10. It marked the first weekly NE10 award of the season for the Ravens.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Unbeaten in Six After 4-1 win at Framingham State

    FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (November 26, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team took to the road on Tuesday and notched a new program record, as the Ravens extended their unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) with a 4-1, non-conference win at Framingham State. Freshman forward Conor Foley (Nahant, Mass.) scored twice at Loring Arena, including the game-winner, while sophomore goaltender Garret Stenberg (Mendham, N.J.) chalked up the win in his first collegiate start with a 30-save performance.
  • Five-Goal Second Lifts Men’s Ice Hockey over Saint Michael’s, 8-4

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (November 22, 2019) -- After a scoreless first period, the remainder of the game was anything but at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena on Friday afternoon. The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team and Saint Michael’s combined for seven goals in the second stanza and 12 over the final 40 minutes, as the Ravens doubled up the visiting Purple Knights, 8-4, in Northeast-10 Conference action. Eight different players found the net for Franklin Pierce.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Smothers Westfield State, 4-2

    WESTFIELD, Mass. (November 19, 2019) – On the road for the third straight game, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team put together a stifling defensive performance to snag a 4-2, non-conference win at Westfield State on Tuesday night. The Ravens held the Owls to just 20 shots in the victory, while piling up 42 of their own at the Amelia Park Arena. Franklin Pierce matched its most-disciplined games of the season, as the Ravens recorded just eight penalty minutes and successfully killed all three power plays against on the way to the win.
  • Ladzinski’s Winner Lifts Men’s Ice Hockey to 4-2 Win at UMass Dartmouth

    NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (November 16, 2019) -- Trailing 2-1 early in period three, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team relied on special teams to tie and take the lead, as the Ravens skated to a 4-2 win on the road against non-conference opponent UMass Dartmouth at Hetland Arena.
  • Men’s Ice Hockey Skates to Penalty-Filled, 1-1 (OT) Tie at Anna Maria

    AUBURN, Mass. (November 12, 2019) – It was a bit of a Tuesday night slog for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team and Anna Maria at the Horgan Arena. The two teams combined for 18 penalties totaling 39 minutes, but could muster only a combined 1-for-18 on the resultant power plays. At times, it felt as if a tie would be the most-appropriate outcome for the evening, and it would be where the contest ended up: in a 1-1 draw after a scoreless overtime period.

Some stars have crossed the right paths, some planets have tilted just right, some quasars have spit out just the right combination of radiation, to cause a heaping mound of cosmic drama dust to descend on the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena at this moment in time. It would be as good an explanation as any for the theatrics on display on the building’s ice sheet this week.
  • Penalties Doom Men’s Ice Hockey in 5-1 Loss to SNHU

    WINCHENDON, Mass. (November 8, 2019) – It was The George Thurston Show on Friday night at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. The Southern New Hampshire freshman forward put home the first four goals of his career, as he all but single-handedly dealt the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team a 5-1 loss in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both schools. Franklin Pierce was unable to stay out of the penalty box throughout the contest and was equally unable to kill the penalties it took, as SNHU finished 4-for-8 on the power play to cruise to the victory.

(November 1, 2019) -- The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team opened up the 2019-2020 campaign with a 3-2 loss at the hands of Suffolk University at home on Friday night. Despite a strong offensive performance with 50 shots on goal, the Ravens could find just a pair of power-play goals while suffering the non-conference defeat at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

The six new faces hail from six distinct areas and come to Rindge from such far-flung locales as Las Vegas and Louisiana.

    WINCHENDON, Mass (October 26, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team hammered our 41 shots on Saturday afternoon, but was left with just one goal to show for it in an exhibition contest at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. On the other side of the ledger, freshman forward Hunter Fortin struck twice for visiting Fitchburg State, as the Falcons dealt the Ravens a 4-1 loss in the bird-centric affair.
  • Franklin Pierce Athletics Announces 2019 Hall of Fame Class

    RINDGE, N.H. (September 12, 2019) – Two National Players of the Year, another All-America selection and a two-time All-Northeast-10 Conference selection highlight the Franklin Pierce University Department of Athletics’ 2019 Hall of Fame class, as announced on Thursday afternoon. The four-athlete class represents five sports and will be honored over the course of Hall of Fame Weekend on Nov. 8 and 9. The formal induction will take place at a private social on Friday night, Nov. 8. The quartet will then be honored publicly on Saturday, in conjunction with the Nov. 9 football game against Bentley.
