Shaun Taylor Named Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Second time a Raven has earned the top weekly award from the conference

RINDGE, N.H. (October 25, 2010) -- Franklin Pierce University men's soccer graduate forward Shaun Taylor (Isle of White, England) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week on Monday for his outstanding performances in a pair of Ravens' wins last week.

Taylor scored a goal in each match, as both went for game-winners to help push Franklin Pierce's unbeaten streak to 11-straight matches.

His game-winning goal in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Saint Anselm came with just under 14 minutes remaining and broke the scoreless tie. Taylor also scored the game-winning tally in the 95th minute in Saturday's 2-1 overtime road win at Assumption. The win helped the Ravens clinch the 2010 Northeast-10 Regular Season Championship.

Taylor has logged at least one point in three-straight matches as his play is helping to ignite Franklin Pierce's offensive attack heading down the stretch run of the regular season.

Taylor's player-of-the-week award marked the second time this season a Raven earned the league's top weekly honor, as junior midfielder Paul Latif (Birmingham, England) took home the accolade last month.

Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 3 in the NSCAA Division II National Top-25 Poll, returns to action Tuesday when the Ravens play host to No. 9 Southern New Hampshire at 7 p.m. in Sodexo Field. The match will be Pierce Pride Night as there will be a costume contest and a Thriller Dance-Off for prizes. The match will also mark Senior Night as the Ravens' 2010 senior class will be honored prior to kick off.
