Raven Women Record Third Second Place Finish at FPU Fall Invitational

KEENE, N.H. (September 24, 2018) The Franklin Pierce University women's golf program finished in third place for the third straight week this time at the annual FPU Fall Invitational hosted by the Keene Country Club in Keene, N.H. 

The Crimson and Grey shot 640 (+64) over the course of the two days for second place. Northeast-10 Conference opponent Merrimack College brought home the team championship by totaling 628 (+52). The Ravens trailed the Warriors by only two strokes yesterday but tacked on 10 strokes to their second day showing.

Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) recorded the two Raven top-10 finishes. Yamamoto placed fifth at 157 (+13) while ranking second in the field of golfers in birdies (5), par-4 scoring (4.15, +3) and par-5 scoring (5.00, E). Hartley tied for 10th scoring a 162 (+18).

Reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.) tied for 13th with teammate Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) as the duo carded a two-round total 164 (+20).

Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) was the Ravens most improved athlete on Monday as she climbed 14 slots on the player leaderboard to 20th by dropping 11 strokes from her Sunday scorecard. Jones produced a 169 (+25) score including a 79 (+7) today.

Senior Shannon Slater (Stafford, Conn.) competed as an individual and tallied a 183 (+39) two-round total. She subtracted one stroke on Monday to finish the afternoon at 91 (+19).

Krystal Knight of Merrimack was the only golfer under par at 142 (-2) which was good enough for the top spot on the individual leaderboard.

Franklin Pierce travels to Merrimack College and the Nashua Country Club next Monday, October 1st for their final tune-up before the NE10 Championship.
