RINDGE, N.H. (January 8, 2019) – Sophomore forward Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team has been named New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Player of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 6, as announced on Tuesday morning by the NEWHA. In addition, freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) has been selected as the NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week.

Parker piled up six points, on three goals and three assists, in a 2-0-0 week for the Ravens, who swept a weekend series from SUNY Potsdam at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. On Friday night, Parker scored a power-play goal in the first period and later assisted on the game-winner in the second period of a 4-2 victory. She followed up with a four-point outing on Saturday afternoon, as she scored twice, including a power-play tally, and added a pair of assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in a 6-1 win. Parker tallied seven shots and went +2 across the two games.

On the season, Parker has played in all 17 games for the Ravens and is the team’s leading scorer, with 24 points, on 11 goals and 13 assists, both of which are team-leading figures as well. She has scored three power-play goals, two shorthanded goals and one game-winning goal, and leads the team in both shots on goal (74) and plus/minus (+13) as well.

Meanwhile, Ostrander logged all of the team’s time in goal during the weekend sweep. Across the two games, she stopped 45 of 48 shots to post a .938 save percentage and a 1.51 goals-against average to go with the 2-0-0 record. On Friday, Ostrander made 20 saves against 22 shots, and followed up with 25 stops against 26 shots on Saturday.

On the season, Ostrander has recently laid claim to the team’s starting goaltender position and has now logged nearly 50% of the team’s time in net. Over 499:02 minutes, she has made 206 saves against 221 shots, to put together a .932 save percentage and a 1.80 goals-against average. Ostrander has a 5-3-0 record with two shutouts.

The Ravens return to the ice on Tuesday, Jan. 8, when they travel to Suffolk for a non-conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 6 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink in East Boston, Mass.
