(November 28, 2018) – A consensus All-America Third Team selection for senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) was among the highlights of the day for the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team on Wednesday, as both the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association and United Soccer Coaches announced their respective All-America honorees. In all, the Ravens had three players who earned All-America accolades from at least one of the organizations.

(November 27, 2018) -- Three players on the First Team highlighted four United Soccer Coaches All-East Region selections for the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team, as announced late Monday by the coaches’ association. Senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain), senior midfielder Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) all landed on the All-East Region First Team, while senior forward Bruna Tavares (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) earned a spot of the All-East Region Third Team.

  • No. 7 Women’s Soccer’s Run Comes to an End in 3-1 Loss to No. 23 LIU Post in NCAA Second Round

    RINDGE, N.H. (November 11, 2018) – For the second straight year, it was the Pioneers of LIU Post who ended the season of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team in the NCAA Championship East Regional. A year ago, it was a 2-0 victory for the Pioneers in the first round. On Sunday afternoon, it was a 3-1 win on the road for No. 23 nationally ranked and fifth-seeded LIU Post over No. 7 and top seed Franklin Pierce at Sodexo Field. Junior forward Julia Duffy struck twice in the victory for LIU Post. Senior midfielder Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored the lone goal for Franklin Pierce in what would be her collegiate finale.

The Ravens earned an automatic bid as the NE10 champion, and first and second round play is set for Friday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 11. Franklin Pierce will open its NCAA Championship on Friday against eighth-seeded Caldwell at 2 p.m. at Sodexo Field.

    RINDGE, N.H. (November 4, 2018) – Sunday evening at Sodexo Field was a bit quieter in terms of offensive output than Friday night, but it was even louder in terms of import. The No. 8 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team needed only a first-half tally from junior midfielder Gabi Pereira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), but popped home two second-half insurance markers as well, as the Ravens returned to the top of the Northeast-10 Conference for the first time in over a decade. When all was said and done, top-seeded Franklin Pierce had a 3-0 victory over visiting sixth-seeded Assumption in the final of the NE10 Championship. It marked Franklin Pierce’s eighth all-time NE10 title, which is a league record.

    RINDGE, N.H. (November 2, 2018) – If a barn stood at Sodexo Field, it would have burned to the ground long before the completion of Friday night’s Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal. The energy from the No. 8 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team and Saint Rose would have reduced it to ashes before regulation was even completed, as the two locked horns in a game which could simply stand in as the definition of “barnburner”. Each team trailed by two goals at one point in the contest, which eventually went to overtime. Ultimately, the top-seeded Ravens got a 93rd-minute goal from senior midfielder Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) – her second of the game – to post a 6-5 victory over the fourth-seeded Golden Knights.

In addition to the Player of the Year accolade, Franklin Pierce also tallied NE10 Defensive Player of the Year honors for senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) and NE10 Coach of the Year honors for second-year head coach Jonathan Garbar. Furthermore, the Ravens garnered six All-Conference selections, including four on the First Team, and a pair of All-Rookie Team selections.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 24, 2018) – The No. 11 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team dominated the run of play statistically on Wednesday afternoon at Saint Michael’s. The Ravens piled up advantages of 30-10 in shot attempts and 13-0 in shots on goal in the Northeast-10 Conference contest at Doc Jacobs Field. In the end though, Saint Michael’s sophomore goalkeeper Liz Vallatini stopped all 13 shots on her net and the Purple Knights forced Franklin Pierce to settle for a 0-0 tie after 110 minutes of scoreless soccer.

(October 20, 2018) – The No. 13 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team successfully defended its home turf again on Saturday night, this time with a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference win over Adelphi at Sodexo Field. The Ravens got a first-half goal from senior forward Bruna Tavares (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and a second-half insurance marker from senior back Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) to take care of business against the visiting Panthers. Franklin Pierce closed out the home portion of its regular-season schedule with a 7-0-1 mark in eight games on Sodexo Field.

  • Furious Second Half Rallies No. 15 Women’s Soccer to 2-2 (2 OT) Tie with Saint Rose

    RINDGE, N.H. (October 10, 2018) – If Charles Dickens had lived in 21st-century New Hampshire, rather than 19th-century England, perhaps the play would have wound up titled “A Tale of Two Halves”. Over the course of a roller-coaster affair worthy of its own three-act play, the women’s soccer teams of Franklin Pierce and Saint Rose faced both the best of times and the worst of times, often at each other’s expense, on Sodexo Field. After being imprisoned in a 2-0 deficit heading into halftime, the No. 15 nationally ranked Ravens put together a 17-shot second-half revolution, which eventually saw the game leveled at 2-2. An 80th-minute tally from senior midfielder Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) would ultimately stand as the game-tying goal, as the two sides played to a wildly-entertaining, 2-2 draw in the Northeast-10 Conference contest.

Four different Ravens found the net, and junior forward Veronica Marques (Sao Paulo, Brazil) piled up four points on a goal and two assists, as Franklin Pierce rolled to a 4-0 Northeast-10 Conference win over Merrimack at Martone-Mejail Field.
