    RINDGE, N.H. (August 5, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team has been named as a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2013-14 academic year, as announced Monday by the AVCA.

    Over the final weeks of June, members of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team donned the red, white and blue, as they were given the opportunity to represent their school and country overseas, via American International Sports Teams. Sophomore Kelsey Hausman (Sandy, Utah), senior Catie Swiderski (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and head coach Stephanie Dragan spent time traveling and playing volleyball on their way through Germany and the Czech Republic. (February 19, 2014) – Senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team has been selected as the recipient of a Northeast-10 Conference Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award, as announced Wednesday by the Conference office. It is the second straight season Ray has taken home the award.
  • Six Ravens Earn Spots on Fall Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Teams

    RINDGE, N.H. (January 31, 2014) – Six Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been named to the fall 2013 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Team in their respective sports, as announced Friday by the Conference office. Volleyball led the way for the Ravens with three selections: senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.), senior libero Lauren Miller (Alexandria, Ind.) and junior outside hitter Catie Swiderski (Rocky Point, N.Y.). Joining the trio was a pair of women’s soccer players in senior back Gabriela Vieira (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and junior midfielder Caroline Savasta (Salem, Mass.), as well as men’s soccer graduate student midfielder Terence Ciavarra (Sutton, Mass.). The selected Ravens were among 91 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the Northeast-10.

  • LIU Post Defense Stumps Volleyball’s Offense in 3-0 Loss at NCAA Championship East Regional

    BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (December 5, 2013) – Senior middle Katie Jackson (Centennial, Colo.) had five kills without an error to hit .312 and senior libero Lauren Miller (Alexandria, Ind.) averaged seven digs a set in the final collegiate match for each, but it would not be enough on Thursday afternoon, as the seventh-seeded Franklin Pierce University volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to second-seeded LIU Post in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by Bridgeport at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. The LIU Post defense piled up 78 digs (26 per set) and seven blocks to hold Franklin Pierce to an .068 hitting percentage in the match.

(December 3, 2013) – Senior libero Lauren Miller (Alexandria, Ind.) of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team has been named to the Daktronics All-East Region First Team, as announced Tuesday by Daktronics. She becomes the first player in program history to land on the All-Region First Team.
  • Volleyball Earns Second Straight NCAA Championship Berth, Named Seventh Seed in East Regional, Hosted by Bridgeport (UPDATED: 3 p.m. Friday with Championship Central Link)

    RINDGE, N.H. (November 25, 2012) – The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team has been named as the seventh seed of the NCAA Championship East Regional, as announced Monday night by the NCAA. It marks the second straight NCAA Championship selection for the team, as well as the second in program history. The Ravens, a Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinalist, earn an at-large bid in the eight-team tournament, which will run Thursday, Dec. 5 through Saturday, Dec. 7 and be hosted by top seed Bridgeport at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport, Conn. Franklin Pierce will open play at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday against second-seeded LIU Post.

She becomes the first player in program history to earn a major Conference award and headlines two Franklin Pierce All-Conference selections, while the Ravens had a total of three players honored by the Conference.

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (November 19, 2013) – A 12-ace service attack would not be enough to offset a .125 hitting percentage on Tuesday night, as the fifth-seeded Franklin Pierce University volleyball team was defeated, 3-1, by fourth-seeded Adelphi in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Championship at Center for Recreation and Sport. Kaitlyn DeStefano put down a match-best 21 kills and hit a robust .485 on the night to lead Adelphi, while junior outside hitter Catie Swiderski (Rocky Point, N.Y.) chalked up 13 kills in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

(November 15, 2013) – Senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) racked up 14 kills and 21 digs while hitting .268 over 41 attempts on Friday night, and sophomore outside hitter Sydni Schulz (Cypress, Texas) added16 kills on a .238 hitting percentage over 42 attempts as the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team notched a 3-1 win over Southern Connecticut State in Northeast-10 Conference play at Pelz Gymnasium. Freshman outside hitter Nicole Hauser hit a match-best .385 with 11 kills and 13 digs to lead SCSU in the loss.

(November 12, 2013) – Sophomore outside hitter Sydni Schulz (Cypress, Texas) hammered out a career-best 21 kills and hit .292 on Tuesday night, and junior outside hitter Catie Swiderski (Rocky Point, N.Y.) added 14 kills and hit a match-best .371 as the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play in the Fieldhouse. With the victory, Franklin Pierce clinched its second consecutive berth in the Northeast-10 Championship.

(November 9, 2013) – Freshman middle Aiden Garcia (Eagle Pass, Texas) hit .414 with 16 kills on Saturday afternoon, and senior middle Katie Jackson (Centennial, Colo.) piled up 11 block assists to lead a 13-block showing as the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team posted a 3-2 win over Saint Rose in a pivotal Northeast-10 Conference match in the Fieldhouse. Sophomore right side Carissa Dube hit .424 with 17 kills -- both match bests -- in defeat for Saint Rose.

Junior outside hitter Stephanie Belanger hit .250 with 13 kills to lead Le Moyne in defeat.

(November 7, 2013) – Senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team has been named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District I First Team, as announced Thursday by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). As a result of the selection, Ray will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

(November 2, 2013) – Freshman middle Aiden Garcia (Eagle Pass, Texas) hit a season-high .600 and put down a season-best 16 kills on Saturday afternoon as the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team erased a 2-0 deficit and clawed back for a 3-2 win over Pace in Northeast-10 Conference play at Goldstein Fitness Center. Freshman outside hitter Kayla Witwer and freshman Ashley DiFulvio put away 16 kills each in a losing effort for Pace.

The Ravens fell to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in the Northeast-10, while the Panthers improved to 16-8 and 8-1 in league play.

(October 26, 2013) – Freshman middle Aiden Garcia (Eagle Pass, Texas) did not commit an attack error over 19 attempts on Saturday evening on her way to 10 kills and a .526 attack percentage to lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play in the Fieldhouse. Sophomore middle Tara Reilly hit a match-best .692 with only one error over 13 attempts to notch 10 kills and lead Assumption in the loss.

(October 22, 2013) – In the third set on Tuesday night at the Fieldhouse, senior libero Lauren Miller (Alexandria, Ind.) served up the 158th ace of her career, setting a program record for the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team. Two sets later, Franklin Pierce finished off a 3-2, Northeast-10 Conference win over Merrimack in its first home match in nearly three weeks. Junior outside hitter Stephanie Sheehan had 13 kills and 20 digs in the loss for Merrimack.
  • Volleyball Grinds Out 3-2 Win in Defensive Marathon at Stonehill

(October 18, 2013) – In the end on Friday night, senior middle Katie Jackson (Centennial, Colo.) was the only player to hit over .200, as she put away 11 kills against two errors to hit .360 and added seven block assists to lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play at Merkert Gymnasium. On both sides of the net, the teams dug shot after shot and stuffed attack after attack in a match which produced 188 digs and 24 blocks over five sets. For Stonehill, sophomore outside hitter Delia Phillips had 13 kills, three aces and a block assist to lead all players with 16.5 points.
  • Volleyball Runs into Buzz Saw, Swept at New York Tech, 3-0

    OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (October 12, 2013) – Senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) hit .304 and had a team-high 10 kills on Saturday afternoon, but the rest of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team hit only .135 with 25 kills as the Ravens fell at New York Tech, 3-0, in non-conference play at Recreation Hall. NYIT piled up 46 kills in the three sets and committed only 10 errors to hit .414.

(October 11, 2013) – Senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had eight kills and hit .350 on Friday night, but half of her kills came in the first set, and the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team’s offense went quiet afterwards in a 3-0 loss to LIU Post in non-conference play at Pratt Recreation Center. Junior middle Heather Adams hit .421 and put away 10 kills to lead an LIU Post offense which hit .372 on the evening.
  • Ray’s Career Night Can’t Halt Comeback As Volleyball Falls at Saint Michael’s, 3-2

    COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 8, 2013) – Taking the court for the first time in nearly a week, the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team immediately ratcheted up enough drama for two matches on Tuesday night at Ross Sports Center, but ultimately found itself on the short end of a 3-2 grand adventure at the hands of Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael’s, which thrice rallied from the verge of defeat. Senior outside hitter Natasha Ray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had the night of her career, as she hammered out a career-best 28 kills and hit .311 with just five errors over a mind-boggling, career-high 74 attempts. Sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Flaherty answered with 19 kills for Saint Michael’s, hit .271 over 59 attempts, and notched kills on three of the match’s final four points.

(October 2, 2013) – Freshman middle Aiden Garcia (Eagle Pass, Texas) hit .391 with 12 kills and senior middle Katie Jackson (Centennial, Colo.) added .385 with five kills on Wednesday night, but it would not be enough, as the rest of the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team hit just .101 in a 3-1 loss to Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Fieldhouse. Bentley hit .341 as a team, led by a .500 night from junior Savannah Dominguez, who piled up a match-best 16 kills in the victory.
