    Franklin Pierce University volleyball players Ingrid Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.), Ellie Ivanova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Abigail Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) have been chosen as Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference athletes the league office announced Wednesday afternoon after a coaches’ vote was conducted.

    With their backs against the wall facing a sweep in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals, the no. 7 seeded Franklin Pierce University volleyball team forced a fourth set and almost made the match go the distance during a 3-1 (19-25, 15-25, 27-25, 25-27) defeat to the no. 2 seed and reigning NCAA Division II East Region champions American International College Tuesday evening at the Henry A. Butova Gym.

    Franklin Pierce University volleyball freshman right side hitter Mariah Robles (West Covina, Calif.) manufactured a career-high 25 kills off .328 hitting as the crimson and grey earned a 3-2 (31-29, 21-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-10) comeback win over Northeast-10 Conference opponent Pace University Saturday afternoon at the Goldstein Fitness Center. The win, the fourth over the last five games for the Ravens evens up their mark at 11-11 and puts them at 5-6 in league play while the Setters fall to 3-21, 2-9 NE10.
  • DOUBLE TROUBLE: Brittany Fleck Coaches Two Teams at Once

    Coaching at the NCAA level is a tough job. Hours of film, practice prep, game prep, travel, and so much more to ensure your team is not only performing well, but also happy. While some coaches find one team to be enough, Brittany Fleck took on a nearly impossible job: coach two teams at one time. The Franklin Pierce University field hockey assistant coach volunteered to help out with the volleyball team as well, when a position opened up on the coaching staff this fall.

    Despite double-digit kills from Abigail Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ingrid Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.), a comeback bid by the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team came up short losing 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 8-15) to Le Moyne College Saturday at The Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the crimson and grey fall to 9-11, 3-6 NE10 while the Dolphins improve to 11-11, 4-6 NE10.

    The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team led by the duo of freshman right side Mariah Robles (West Covina, Calif.) and senior middle hitter Abigail Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) kicked off the month of November with a bang making quick work of Northeast-10 Conference opponent the College of Saint Rose 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-17) Friday night in The Fieldhouse. With the win, the crimson and grey improve to 9-10 overall and 3-5 NE10 while the Golden Knights slide to 10-14, 3-6 NE10.

    Franklin Pierce University volleyball freshman right side hitter Mariah Robles (West Covina, Calif.) established a new career-high with 18 kills as the crimson and grey concluded a six-game losing streak with a dominant 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-11) win against Northeast-10 Conference opponent Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon in the Pelz Gymnasium. With the win, the Ravens improve to 8-10, 2-5 NE10 while the Owls slide to 9-13, 2-4 NE10.
  • LINDSTROM STRONG: Volleyball Helps a Teammate’s Family Fight Cancer

    Streamers and balloons hung down from the entrance of the Fieldhouse. Posters lined the walls with quotes such as “Feel the Teal,” and “Cancer you picked the wrong girl.” The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team walked onto the court wearing teal and white shirts reading “Lindstrom Strong,” and donning teal ribbons in their hair. All of this in honor of Dawn Lindstrom, whose daughter, freshman Ingrid Lindstrom, plays for the Ravens.
  • Yellow Jackets Rally Late, Sting Ravens 3-2 Tuesday Evening

    The Franklin Pierce University volleyball program held a 2-1 match lead, but could not contain a late American International College surge as the Ravens lost in five sets 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 20-25, 11-15) in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday evening at the Henry A. Butova Gym. With the win, the Yellow Jackets move to 8-14, 5-2 NE10 while the Ravens skid to 7-10, 1-5 NE10.

    The Franklin Pierce University volleyball duo of Abigail Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Tessa Brandt (Foster, R.I.) recorded double-digit kills as the Ravens lost a 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 11-25, 23-25) decision to Northeast-10 Conference opponent the University of New Haven during “The Teal Game” for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Friday evening.
  • Brandt Establishes New Career-Best, Ravens Rally Comes Up Short at Stonehill

    Franklin Pierce University volleyball freshman outside hitter Tessa Brandt (Foster, R.I.) set a new career-high with 14 kills as the Ravens were bettered by Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College 3-1 (18-25, 21-25, 26-24, 19-25) Saturday afternoon at the Merkert Gymnasium. With the victory, the Skyhawks improve to 9-6, 2-2 NE10 while the setback sends the Ravens to 7-8 overall and 1-3 NE10.

    Franklin Pierce University volleyball freshman middle hitter Ingrid Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) and freshman outside hitter Tessa Brandt (Foster, R.I.) produced a team-high nine kills as the Ravens dropped a Northeast-10 Conference contest to Bentley University 3-0 (16-25, 20-25, 12-25) Tuesday evening at the Dana Center. The win, the 10th in a row for the Falcons moves them to 14-4, 4-0 NE10 and the loss evens up the crimson and grey’s mark at 7-7 overall (1-2 NE10).
  • Bridgeport Betters Ravens 3-0 Saturday Night

    Franklin Pierce University volleyball senior middle hitter Abigail Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had a team-best nine kills and hit .500 as the Ravens were defeated 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 20-25) by non-conference opponent the University of Bridgeport Saturday evening at the Fieldhouse. The Ravens end their non-league games with a 6-5 record and the loss sends them to 7-6 overall on the season. The victory surges the Purple Knights forward to 14-3 overall.

With the win, the Hawks better their record to 9-6, 1-0 NE10 while the Ravens drop to 7-5, 1-1 NE10.

With the win, the Ravens improve to 7-4, 1-0 NE10 while the Purple Knights fall to 1-7, 0-1 NE10.
  • Volleyball Opens Home Slate, Takes One Game Versus Roberts Wesleyan

    Nine games into their 2019 season, the Franklin Pierce University volleyball program has already bested their 2018 win total after defeating non-conference opponent Roberts Wesleyan College 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-19) in the first game of their tri-match Saturday at The Fieldhouse during homecoming weekend. FPU, however, dropped their last game, a non-league bout with Northeast-10 Conference opponent Bentley University 3-0 (14-25, 20-25, 22-25). The split sends the crimson and gray to 6-4 on the year while the Red Hawks remain winless and the Falcons move to 7-4.
  • Pease Selected to All-Tournament Team, Volleyball Sweeps Both Matches Saturday in Wilmington

    After falling twice yesterday, the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team responded in a big way by sweeping their Saturday slate at the Wildcat Invitational besting Georgian Court University 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-6) and host Wilmington (Del.) University 3-1 (13-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-20). With the wins, the Ravens move to 5-3 on the year and match their entire 2018 win total. The losses send the Lions to 5-2 and the Wildcats to 5-3 in the seasons early stages.

The two losses even the Ravens record at 3-3 on the year.

    The Franklin Pierce University volleyball team wrapped up their opening weekend at the Long Island Invitational with a Sunday split against non-conference opponent and host Queens (N.Y.) College and Wilmington (Del.) University. The Ravens made quick work of the Knights beating them in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-11) and ended the weekend tournament with a 3-1 (14-25, 25-27, 25-14, 23-25) defeat to the Wildcats. FPU heads back north to Rindge with a 3-1 record.

The wins give the Crimson and Grey a 2-0 record in the early going while the Eagles remain winless (0-4) and the Mavericks move to 2-2.
